... I recommend you help build this one.
At the Catalyst conference, I was introduced to a phenomenal, unselfish organization called The410Bridge. Just to give you a taste of the organization, please read their vision statement below:
"The 410 Bridge began like most great movements do- as an idea in the head of one man, Lanny Donoho. Lanny founded BigStuf student camps and soon began a partnership with Compassion International to take several college students to Africa as part of their pre-camp training. It was on such a trip that the vision for The 410 Bridge was birthed. On a walk through the Kenyan slums, a place where God’s hope is so clear in the middle of such desperate conditions, the BigStuf team found their lives profoundly transformed, inspiring their founder to seek out a way to provide this life change to others, in both America and Kenya.
"Thus, the vision was born: to provide the people of American churches, communities, and families a bridge to a nation in need, a way to answer the calling to serve and to give and to make a difference in God’s kingdom."
We often hear about such organizations that are doing things overseas to help the "unfortunate." The most amazing thing confirmed to me through this organization and others at the conference is that those whom we help overseas are not the unfortunate ones. Yes... their living conditions may be unfortunate in comparison to ours; however, it is the intangible- the peace, joy and well-established hope and faith in a God who lives- that makes these people more fortunate than we often are!!! Argue what you will with what you think you know, but this is truth!
Please... visit the site link below and allow God to open your eyes to see and read about a world so much bigger than our small and personal situations and circumstances.
So join others in helping build this bridge. I just pray that you don't become so desensitized to the point of "getting over it."
