Days, weeks, months and maybe even years ago, God promised you something; He clearly said that something would happen in your life. Whether it was a promotion at work, a baby, healing, an opportunity to do missions abroad... it was declared over you by God. But, when you see and feel your present situations and circumstances, they just don't seem to line up with what or where God told you. It seems that you may even be absolutely opposite of where you think you need to be for that thing to come to pass. As pastor said so simply this morning, "What do you do when your world does not match up with the Word?"
The answer is simple: believe.
"But I do! I just don't see how this thing is going to happen. Maybe it's not going to happen, and I was just hearing things or making things up in my head. Maybe the interpretation was wrong."
Don't let the enemy deceive you as he did Eve. I speak a sound mind and a pure revelation of truth in your life so that you may clearly see and hear the Word of God and its to-come manifestation in your life.
Simply believe. Genesis 17:1-8 and Genesis 22:1-18 talk about a man name Abraham who was promised by God to be the "father of many nations." However, as you read the Genesis 22 passage, this same man Abraham was asked by the same God to sacrifice his ONLY son! You might say, "Well, how could he be the promised father of many nations if he's got to kill his only son?!?" Oh... but Abraham remembered and believed the promise God made him. He believed God would keep His promise so much so that, before going up the mountain to sacrifice his son, he makes the following statement to his servants: (Genesis 22:5)
"[Abraham] said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then WEwill come back to you."
"WE"??? But isn't he about to kill his son, Isaac?" Not only does Abraham say "we" will return, but when Isaac, his son, asked where the lamb to be sacrificed was, Abraham replies: (Genesis 22:8)
"God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."
Isaac has no idea HE is the sacrifice; only Abraham knows. Yet and still, Abraham believed in God- that He would be JEHOVAH JIREH, God our Provider. Do YOU have enough faith to believe that, despite your present situations and environment, God will not fail on the promises He's made to you? Abraham remained obedient and faithful to God to the point of sacrificing his only son for Him- doing something that made absolutely no sense to the limited human mind. This was a test of Abraham's faith... and he passed.
When looking at your world and how it may not seem to line up with the Word- the promises God gave you, will you still have faith in Him? In this season of the testing of your faith, can God trust you to know He won't break His promise? What will your grade be: Pass or Fail? Faith... or Fear?
What's on your report card?
