The Loving Father

Rob opened up the session with prayer then an overlooked truth: we often look at God the Father in the same way we look at our earthly father. Situations and circumstances train our mindset to see our earthly fathers and/or all male types as they have appeared to us. But some ask- “How do I even get to know who this ‘God the Father’ is if He’s supposed to be different than the fathers I’ve seen or experienced?” I’d like to introduce you to Jesus Christ; He’s the absolute Way to the Father.

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

A phenomenon we as human beings must encounter is that God desired you before you were… you. Looking at our past or just the world, this seems seemingly impossible. WE want other people to prove some form of responsibility or ability to be trusted or ounce of concern/care for US BEFORE we entrust something to them. Yet, God entrusted His Son Jesus to us… gave Jesus who went to the cross while we were still completely unable to be trusted, “useless” as Rob said… in our sin, rebellion, sexin’, lyin… you get the picture.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

1 John 4:9 “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as the one who would turn aside his wrath, taking away our sins.

OH HOW FAR FROM GOD’S HEART WE ARE! Unlike human beings, God DESIRES us despite it all, regardless of what our record says in the past or present! So, although our earthly father may have rejected, abused, dismissed or whatever the case may be concerning us, we have to TRUST and know God has never and will never treat us the same. Believe that He speaks, “You are mine. You’re the one I want! I won’t leave or forsake you! I’m longing for you.” Many people fear coming to God for several reasons, some wanting to “get right first” before they approach Him or feeling they’ve done too much to receive His unconditional love. God sees and knows all; He’s the only one with that ability. So, if He sees and knows everything you’ve ever done and are dealing with, exposed AND hidden, why does He still desire and love you? Rob, through his testimony, shared a strong word: we don’t conquer our addictions or sins BEFORE being a son or daughter of God. It’s in being a son/daughter of God that LEADS us to conquer our addictions. It is my prayer you receive this word of Truth and prove the devil to be who he’s always been- a liar. God DOES desire and longs for you. He wants to blow your mind with His love and show you who your Father has always been and what a Father’s love REALLY feels like.
